Sarika Park is the best to place have a memorable encounter with the Tigers. It is well located in Aravalli Hills covered with grasslands, forests, cliffs, and rocky landscapes. It is dwelling on the ruins of medieval age temples like Garh- Rajor, dating back to the 10th & 11th centuries. It is a Tiger reserve in the Alwar districts of Rajasthan stretched over 800 square kilometers! So much love for tigers? Yeah. But earlier it was a hunting ground and turned a wildlife reserve in 1955, making it a part of Project Tiger in 1978. They declared it a national park in 1990 and became the first reserve in the world with successfully moved wild big cats! One of the best parts of the forest is that it is rich in mineral resources; However , excessive mining has been proven a threat to the environment!
HISTORY
Landing to the time of pre-independence! Sariska Park was another hunting ground for the officials and kings of those times. After independence, with no royal power in command, the regular people started clearing lands by hunting down animals for residential and agricultural reasons. The number of animals had reduced because of this reason and still in 1973, it was not under one of the nine projects of Project Tiger. The park got its place under the Project in the year 1979 and this integration has helped the forest in tiger conservation. There are 16 village settlements with over 5000 people dwelling within the Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary. With people, comes traffic and environmental changes! And, so happened here, there has been an ecological imbalance.
FLORA
Just like any other National Park, the Sariska Park is rich in species of plants and trees. The most abundantly found tree is Dhok. You know that vegetation is difficult and rare in deserted areas. We consider Sariska National Park one of the lonely forests in the entire Aravalli Hills Range. The topography has a great effect on the vegetation cover found in the National Park. Climate and geography have encouraged the growth of the dry deciduous forest. There are varieties of shrubs and other dry deep slants. The mixture of vegetation only makes the forest more attractive and serene to visit! What a heavenly creation of nature? All things at once! The mixed geographical condition has brought climatic changes within the forest;Hence , the vegetation differs in each area. The dried Dhok leaves on the grounds help herbivores carry the grains during the summer months. The forest gets thick and rich during the rainy season and arid in late spring.
FAUNA
Yes! No doubt tigers are the attractions of the National Park, but there are other wildlife species that would fascinate you to the core. It has rich wildlife with all the carnivores, herbivores, mammals are all seen together co-habiting the environment! The animals here are found in certain places like Chitals and Nilgai are found in respective regions. The main buck on the earth with four horns- Chausingha can be viewed here. There is dedicated place called Talviksh, where the rhesus monkeys can be seen in several numbers! Talking about Langurs, they are very abundant in Pandupole, Slopka and Kalighati regions of the forest.
BIRDS
Any wildlife is incomplete without birds enhancing its beauty and attraction. There are great beautiful birds, counted almost to 225 species of birds.Grey Partridges, Sand Grouse, Eagles, Tree Pie, Bush Quail are among the few named ones which I can remember and let you know of! I mean I am not google to remember them all.The birds can't obviously be found flapping wings around you all the time, but you can find them on the trees beside you.

The park is accessible to the photographers throughout the year but it's a NO to visitors!Get hands on either Jeep Safari or Canter Safaris! The jungles seem inviting; however, dust can be a little too much when in Jeep Safari. First, I'd suggest having less hope of spotting a tiger, so that if you see one (only if you're lucky enough), you enjoy to the fullest! The landscape of the Sariska National Park is stunning with the stretch of dry deciduous forest among the rock mountain. Each Safari lasts about 3 hours in Jeep or Canter, and you can explore and traverse the forest at your pace.
