Kaziranga National Park spread over the Golaghat and Nagaon districts of the state of Assam is known for its dense population of one-horned rhinoceros. During the census conducted in March 2015, it was revealed that there are currently about 2,401 rhinos living in Kaziranga National Park.

History of Kaziranga National Park
The story behind naming the park as Kaziranga is also quite interesting. It is believed that Ranga, a girl living in a village here, falls in love with a boy named Kazi. However, after the refusal of the family members, both of them fled and disappeared into the forest, the name of this forest was named Kaziranga after these lovers.
Kaziranga Forest was made a reserve forest in 1908 and declared a national park in 1968. On 11 February 1974, this park was given official recognition by the Indian government.
When to visit Kaziranga National Park?
The best time for wildlife safari in Kaziranga National Park is from November to April as Assam often receives heavy rainfall before the monsoon. Due to which the Brahmaputra river is at its peak.
